Heraklion – Wednesday / Ammoudara & Kokkini & Malia – Wednesday & Saturday

Duration 4 hours approximately

Life in the contemporary world loses every day the warmth, the human communication, the friendly relationship, the contact with the nature. The special, hospitable, Cretan village is the way out because it doesn’t offer only an educational and amusing show of Greek dance and music but also a magnificent excursion in a paradise place. Perched on a verdant hillside overlooking the picturesque village of Kato Karouzanos the village provides a chance to sample the real Crete in microcosm. The road is fully relaxed due to the exceptional natural beauty that has not changed over the centuries. The landscape is full of surprises, which changes minute by minute, here bare and wild, there green and peaceful. The green fertility which is composed by olive green, vine green, citrus green and vegetable green adds living color to the grandeur of the mountains and the wild rock formations. The beautifully sculptured ΄΄Traditional Village΄΄, set in lush rolling hills, offers the opportunity to taste traditional hospitality in a magnificent setting of unparalleled Cretan beauty. Open 16 hours a day from throughout the whole season, the village invites visitors on a journey into Crete’s rural heartland to take a break in the serenity of the countryside.

The visitors have the opportunity to sit in our garden terrace, drink Greek coffee, raki or taste the sweetness of the Cretan wine in the shade of a cypress tree and enjoy the quiet beauty of the surrounding countryside as a gentle breeze tames the mighty Cretan sun and a lira plays softly in the background. Or they can take a stroll around the delightful village paths, through arches strewn with bougainvillea and an enticing aroma of honeysuckle in the air and see the several exhibits that the village has to offer.

In the ΄΄Traditional Village΄΄ with the small neighborhoods, the yards and its small, graphic street, people find again friendship and communication. Zeus, the God of ancient Greek Gods, represented hospitality and his spirit lives on today in the hearts of this village’s people.
